How Womenade Works

We rely on community members such school nurses, teachers and local clergy to act on behalf of those in need. These are the people who make requests for assistance citing the specifics with a little background information. Requests may be made here.

Our e-mail is checked daily and reliably. Once all information is gathered from the sender, the request is immediately distributed to the entire board, who check their individual emails daily. Assistance can be granted in just a few days.

Womenade is able to provide financial help in amounts up to $500. We are hesitant to provide specific criteria for the types of things that "qualify" for our assistance because we want to be as flexible and effective as possible. A request might be "something that other agencies can't provide" or the need is immediate, and a wait because of paperwork or bureaucracy will hurt the client.

We are not a long-term solution. We fulfill short-term needs that may make a difference in the quality of someone's life, in the interest of stronger community. We want to help take care of our neighbors, friends, and their children.
